Widgets and gadgets

Had fun using the Blogger widgets and gadgets but a bit stuck over my del.icio.us boookmarks, must be time for lunch to refuel the brain

final task, my experience of 23 things and web 2.0

I've really enjoyed 23 things, its worked really well. I now love blogging, am an expert on facebook (even have my own garden -sad), have experimented with Delicious, Flickr, had fun on YouTube (yes I'm on it with my fiddle), listened to the Archers, not so sure about Twitter, got irritated by it (though that may have been the Friday afternoon when we had the rat problem!) Great, great give me more. Also interesting that loads of folk at the Librarians conference were talking about it too. Only problem, must now think about how to use it in Libraries!!!

Things 21,23 and 22. widgets and gadgets

Trying to finish me things before I run away to Yorkshire for the Easter hols without any computer connection whatsoever. So on to widgets and gadgets. Trouble is I'm off tomorrow and so running out of time so onward and upward, quick quick

ThinkFree Office

Had problems with a message sayin that I have to Install JRE (Java runtime environment)so not able to do much with this one. I will need to ask the IT boys.

Google Docs

Ok so here I am with Google Docs, thing 19. It seems ok, I've created a document and a form and picked on a couple of people to send it to. Its much more fun than twitter, most go back and try tweeting again, but not on a Friday afternoon.

Wikipedia

Still trying to sort out the dead rat, what a stink in the library. Wilipedia is amazin. Having a look at some musical stuff and will have a go at editing soon

Wiki

Been playing around with the Oxford web 2.0 wiki. Added a few key words to General issues and considerations, not very exciting I know but out of time this week and today dominated by dead rat under the floor boards, phew what a stink!

Engaging with your network

Not feeling inspired by Twitter today, something to do with the fact that all books are due back today, mountains of the them, who said the book was dead? Will try and be inspired on Friday.

Tweeting away merrily now. Its been slipping off my to do list for ages.

I've had a little play with Lindedin, never heard of it before so will take a little while to work it all out. Getting better with my blogging now toooooo!

Face Book

Face book is such fun, I've been using it for some time to communicate with friends (and I have even got a garden - sad!)
How libraries can use different features, mmmm. Its all about marketing really isn't it? Events, new books, RSS feeds, BLOGS, photos, linking to SOLO etc, fans

YouTube

Well yep, sound would be good to use YouTube I think! But i found myself, look under Oxford Fiddle Group and then searched on YouTube EDU for King's College London, but the searching was't so good as I kept getting King's College Cambridge. I guess you could spend your whole life just nurdling around with all this stuff on your computer. (slightly grumpy today as you might guess!)

Podcasts Thing 11

Well yep I guess that they could good if only I had some sound on my work computer. So have sorta done this one and imagined the sound in case I don'nt have time to do it at home. Found a podcast from on the Oxford University site from someone I know and put him on a RSS feed.

Thing 4

Had conflicting edits on this again. So annoying when all you have just written disappears! Can't be bothered to write anything else because its Friday afternoon. Blog on!

Scrummy networks

Think I see the point of Delicious networks but not sure. Need use them more. Phil Bradleys good though. He is also a very good speaker shoud you happen to come across him at a conference.

Delicious

Bother my post disappeared due to conflicting editing, so I have to write it again. Delicious ok, rather call it scrummy though. Spent ages nurdling around before I got bookmarklet sorted on IE, but its there now and easy to use. Explored someones pink page, need more time to play with everything 23 things but trumpet lesson tonight so must do practise!

Managed week 4 things 7 and 8 but must use them more to get used to them!

Things 5 and 6

mmmm these were a little more tricky as I hav'nt blogged before. Not sure I've done them right, and keep forgetting where to go back to, like which screen and have I subscribed to those 5 things or not, I'm sure I did! anyway I guess it comes with time! had my first trumpet lesson this week, and though i could'nt get a sound out of it (but i can now!!) its much easier than blogging at the moment!

my second post

I already had a google account and use google mail, so that was not a problem. There seemed to some stuff already there on my igoogle page, not sure why, but i managed to add 3 clocks and it took me a while to work out how to get rid of 2. I then added weather, a hamster (got bored by him pretty quickly) hang man, googlemaps and severe weather, though it was confused by a UK postcode, so i did'nt ge my severe weather.

23 things

I'm enjoying my 23 things because I like learning new stuff and I think some of it might be usable in a library context - though some might also not be! I've dabbled in Web 2.0 already, especially facebook, and I want to know more.
